Clean & Clear Soothing Eye Makeup Remover ($5.99)CLEAN & CLEAR® Soothing Eye Makeup Remover gently conditions as it dissolves long-wear eye makeup. Its oil-free formula, infused with a combination of cucumber extracts and aloe vera, soothes and refreshes the delicate skin around the eyes.
I'm ashamed to admit that I'm terrible about removing my eye makeup, mostly because it's just so tough to remove. But when I did reach for an eye makeup remover, it was always Lancome's Bi-Facil; it's pricey ($26 for 4.2 oz as opposed to $5.99 for 5.5 oz), leaves me feeling greasy and irritates my eyes a little bit but I'd always heard it was the best out there. Well I've now found an alternative that's dirt cheap, readily available and simply superb at removing even the most stubborn waterproof mascaras and eyeliners (even my Majolica Majorca which nothing has been able to remove until now) ~ Clean & Clear's Soothing Eye Makeup Remover.
What I Love: I've actually had this sitting around on my vanity for a number of months now. To be honest I figured since it was cheap it wouldn't be any good and wasn't really planning on using this (it was given to me by a friend) but this is some seriously great stuff! Just like the Lancom Bi-Facil, I shake the bottle to mix up the dual-phase formula, soak a cotton pad with the remover, press the cotton pad to my eye for 15-20 seconds and then voila, even the most stubborn eye makeup melts right off! I've tried many many eye makeup removers, and this is definitely one of the best, especially for the price!
Not So Much: The packaging could be a little better, but I guess for $5.99 I really shouldn't be complaining. Other than that I really can't find anything wrong with Clear & Clear's Soothing Eye Makeup Remover--it really is that good!
The Verdict: If you're a fan of Lancome's Bi-Facil but can't stomach the price, Clean & Clear's Soothing Eye Makeup Remover is an amazing alternative! The oil-free formula is non-irritating, doesn't leave an oily film over your eye area, feels less greasy than Lancome's formula, and most importantly, gently removes even the most budge-proof eye products. My inner (much-supressed I swear!) beauty snob cringes a little at how much I love this stuff, but you can't argue with results!

Eeee! This makes me happy. I am as described - Bi-Facil fan who doesn't want to spend £18 a tub. Especially given how much eye makeup I have to remove...
I'm trying to be good and use a great remover so I won't get wrinkles scrubbing at my eyes. We BETTER sell this! I'm going hunting in Boots tomorrow <3
have you tried cold cream to remove makeup? it works really well on my eye makeup although it irritates my eye a bit.
never thought to compare - thanks for the review!
Great find! I'm definitely on the look out for a good and cheap remover. I tried Almay and that didn't take off anything, so I just recently got the Lancome one. I'm going to have to pick up this clean and clear one. Thanks!
5/5? Wow! I'll have to get some when I run out of Jojoba oil...which is what I use!
Thank you for the wonderful review. I will troop to the nearest drugstore early in the morning to get me one of this. :-)
Thanks for the review! I will have to try this someday. I've always cringed @ clean & clear anything haha. I actually don't think the purple bottle is bad either.
Do you know if this is similar to the Sephora Waterproof makeup remover that you shake up, or the Nyx makeup remover that you shake up?
If so, I've gotta try it :) I'm a fan as both of those are great for getting my mascara and eyeliners off!
that is AWESOME! and bad girl for not removing your eye makeup. i recently fell asleep with my eye makeup on and woke up with a stye from blocked sebacious glands. so be careful!!!
we don't have clean & clear in the UK but maybe i'll have my mum send me some
Ana on those days when I'm wearing a TON of eye makeup it's amazing just how much stuff seems to come of my two itty bitty eyes.
That's what I really like about this--how gentle I can be on my eyes. I literally just press the soaked cotton pads onto my eyelids and everything loosens up enough that a gentle swipe gets it all.
Jenn I haven't, but thank you for the suggestion! My eyes are pretty sensitive so I try to avoid anything that might potentially irritate them, and it doesn't help that my mascaras are super super waterproof making them next to impossible to remove.
Happy to be of assistance Miss Yaya--this is some good stuff!
Amynaree this also gets amazing reviews on MUA--everyone seems to love it. Hope you do too!
Aleksis is the jojoba oil good for removing really stubborn eye makeup? I'm always up for trying new things and I've heard that jojoba oil can be used so many different ways.
Kessa Thea I really hope that you like this as much as I do! I'm generally not one to rave over cleansers/makeup removers, but for this price I just had to share.
LOL Jenna I'm the same way and my cheap-product-cringing almost prevented me from trying this. I don't know what possessed me to use this the other day-I must've been really really bored-but regardless I'm so happy that I did!
I wish the opening/top were a little nicer, but I really can't complain =P
Phyrra I haven't tried the NYX but I'd way it's just as good if not better than the Sephora and definitely worth a try. It's so so nice for removing liner and mascara!
SEH I know *runs and hides in shame* =X. But I HATE having to tug at my eyelids to remove my eye makeup, and with other removers that was pretty much the only way it was coming off. But your talk of styes has convinced me to wash up every night--that's scary!
Definitely try this if you can get access to it--it's great!
Wait, what? Someone just said we don't have Clean & Clear in the UK.
Don't we? I remember seeing adverts for it all the time.
Yeah I just checked boots.co.uk, we have a lot of Clean & Clear products, although I don't see that make-up remover, we certainly can get the brand here.
Ana I was hoping you wouldn't catch that so I wouldn't have to face your wrath! =P
Okay glad to see you do in fact have access to the brand! Hope you can find this stuff!
Jen, I'm going to try it. I've been looking for a quick eye makeup remover to use while I'm doing my face. At night I use my HG Clinique's Take the Day Office Face Balm. It removers EVERYTHING even hard eye makeup. However, it's not good for "spot" removal as it's thick and a little greasy. So I'll try this. :O)
Ooooh, thanks for the recommendation!
I wonder why I don't see them here, with a lot of makeup user down here, we needed something like this! we have the clean and clear facial wash and line but not the remover
T.R. that Clinique stuff sounds pretty amazing. I'm a loyal devotee of my oil cleanser, but if I ever feel the need to try something new I may just purchase that Clinique.
You're welcome Catherine!
Askmewhats I think this is decently new so maybe it hasn't reached your area it? Definitely keep your eyes peeled for it it's really nice!
I am so glad you posted this, because most of the removers I've tried either feel oily or they irritate my eyes. I just tried the Almay one and it burned! I am glad I only bought a 99-cent trial size. This is going on my must try list.
Hi! =)
I tried this and it works really well! Glad to see that it works for you too! Clean & Clear's makeup remover cloths are amazing too, I use them daily.
Love this! Just finished an entire bottle and buying more! It's the best!
Deb I've been hearing that people haven't really been loving the Almay. I've never tried it myself so I can't compare, but the clean & clear is really really nice. It feels a tiny bit greasy, but it's much better than the bi-facil and it's really gentle on the eyes.
Amy I'm so glad to hear that you love this too! I really love their makeup remover cloths as well, they're really sturdy and made of such a nice material. I hope to review them soon!
Caitline's Mommy I have a back-up bottle sitting around in case I run out, although I don't think that'll be anytime soon since a little does go a long way with this :)
this sounds amazing! with that review and a 5/5 rating, i need this asap. i'm going to write down the name, so i can pick it up this weekend at walgreens. i also own bi-facil, but i'm terrible about using it because i hate the greasy feeling after, and it does irritate me sometimes too. this sounds great though!
nicole i've thrown away so many sample bottled of bi-facil because i don't like the way it feels and it irritates my eyes/contacts a lot of the time. this is better in every way--removes makeup better, costs less, etc. the bottle isn't as cute, but i don't really care =P
I went shopping earlier this week and I needed to stock up on Lancome Bi-Facil. I totally forgot to pick it up then I read this post yesterday and ran out and got some immediately! Lancome really does the job, I just hate the oil slick it leaves behind. So I've been back n forth between Clinique and MAC, which isn't as great. So far I'm really liking this, the price tag too! Thanks for the recommendation! :)
Nazia is this working well in removing your eye makeup for you? I hope so! I happen to think it's pretty great :)
Hi Jen! This review couldn't have come at a better time, thank you! I am almost out of Bi-Facil and was planning to pick up another one, but will definitely try the Clean & Clear one instead. I trust your opinion and if it's a good alternative, I'll take it since it's a fraction of the cost of Bi-Facil!
Hi Nancy! I'm so happy that I decided to put this review up when I did then :). I really hope that you liked this, for me it's been a godsend as it removes even my most stubborn mascaras.
Ooh! I'd love love to try this! I also use the Lancome Bi-Facil. I recently tried the Neutrogena one and I'll just purchase this one too. Just for comparison sakes! XD
Lisa this is seriously just as good if not better, so I highly recommend checking it out!
★Please forgive me for my unperfect english, it's not my mothertongue.★
I find this product to remove make-up very well, but it made my skin breakout, when my skin is usually perfectly smooth.
Before this product, I had like, around 30 pimples in my whole life (wich means, 17 years). Also, although they say it's oil free, I find it pretty oily to the touch.
That said, it may be good for somebody else. I'm not the center of the universe :3
Anonymous did it break you out in the eye area? That's really too bad, I do enjoy using it for my more stubborn eye makeup days. Hopefully you have better luck with another product!
