Here's installment one of the eye cream reviews that I promised you! I'm wondering if these should have a title like the Mascara Series does, but I'm not entirely sure. Any preferences? I'm leaning towards no.
Dior HydrAction Visible Defense Hydra-Protective Eye Creme SPF 20 ($54)This SPF 20 hydra-protective skincare that uses Aquaporin technology moisturizes your skin intensely, protecting it effectively against external stresses thanks to the exclusive Dior Multi-Protective SPF 20 complex that acts as a powerful protective barrier. Effectively protected and perfectly moisturized, your skin visibly regains its glow and beauty.
I had my mother pick up Dior's HydrAction Visible Defense Hydra-Protective Eye Creme for me a few years back when she was in Korea (from Duty Free of course), sight unseen, and it was definitely full of surprises for me as it was nothing like what I was expecting.

Age Range: I'd say this particular eye cream is best-suited for those in their teens to mid thirties as it seems to be formulated to address the more preliminary signs of aging and to emphasize preventative measures as opposed to actually remedying fully-formed wrinkles. While it's decently moisturizing, it's also rather light and doesn't provide the heavier moisture your under eye area may be craving once you hit 40.
Sorry for this terrible photo -- these were taken with my old camera which didn't do so well in low-light conditions.
The Formula: As I mentioned, I was rather surprised by the formula. Dior's HydrAction Hydra-Protective Eye Creme has the consistency of a thick souffle and therefore is a little disconcerting upon first use. It feels nice and light though (it's almost fluffy) and glides on easily. One aspect that can be either a pro or a con is that this product leaves a bit of a whitish cast wherever it's applied thanks to the SPF (see it sheered out in the photo below to see what I mean). I actually like this since I'm decently pale and it gives me eyes a brightened appearance, but if you're on the darker side it might appear to be a bit odd. The formula is moderately hydrating, non-irritating, very gentle on the eyes and all-around a good solid eye cream. I appreciate that it's non-greasy and therefore doesn't migrate and slide around my eye ruining my eye makeup.

The Verdict: While I don't really see this eye cream providing any heavy-duty anti-aging benefits, I do quite like it for its simplicity and the fact that it's one of the few eye creams to provide decent SPF protection, something that's key for the delicate skin under our eyes. If you're young, have relatively good skin and are just looking for a good solid eye cream that'll provide you with sun protection, moisturization and a brightened, lightened undereye area with some anti-aging bits thrown in this is a good option for you. I like to use this on those summer days when it's just too hot for anything heavier.
RATING: 3.75/5

I love titles! You know I like naming things.
I am young, and am probably looking for all those things, but for $54 I wouldn't buy it. I'd expect more for that. Although we're probably all holding out for this HG of yours =D
Ana any suggestions? I'm experiencing a food coma at the moment and can't seem to form a coherent thought much less think of a name for this piece.
I do agree that it's a little pricey for it is. My HG costs $2 more so it's not exactly cheap, but for what it does for me I find it to most definitely be worth it. I do wish I could find an amazing eye cream for day that contained some SPF, although knowing me I'd be too cheap to buy separate creams for day and night.
Wow this was extremely helpful. I am a minimalist, I try to use less of everything.
My store is getting a new all-natural aloe sun cream in soon which I'm pretty excited about. Especially sun creams are one of the very few things I'm often allergic to. That and fake tan. I have good reasons to hate the sun!
I'll think on title suggestions and let you know forthwith.
Phuk Meh come summertime I really don't like putting too much on my face what with the humidity and disgusting heat, so minimalistic is definitely the way to go!
Ana sounds great! I'm a big proponent of aloe, especially in its pure form. My parents have a rather large aloe plant and they used to mix chunks aloe into smoothies.
I've been experimenting with a few fake tanners lately to try to even out my body since my stomach is blindingly white whereas the rest of me has picked up some color thanks to this crazy hot weather we've been having.
I welcome any and all of your suggestions Ana!
The whitish cast would probably be problematic for me. I have dark circles even when I am not tired. My skin is very pigmented around my eyes. I can imagine my darker eye skin turning some weird ashy color if I apply a whitish cream to it. I think I need more hydration too. My eyes are getting flaky.
I need some of this...as it's hot out here and i don't want to wear my foundation. Thanks!
Jen, ooo I'm excited. LOL I went to Sephora, there were so many eye creams, I just stop checking about page 2. LOL. I'll just be patient and wait until you get there. :O)
Deb when I was younger I never understood the need for really moisturizing eye creams, but I've definitely been noticing some under-eye dryness myself. I can't deal with anything too heavy though as it really irritates my eyes.
Aubrey it's definitely very light and a nice texture if you're in an area with a lot of humidity. I just wish it did more for me!
LOL T.R. Sephora really does have a massive range of eye creams. I'll periodically check them all out to see if anything catches my eye, and believe me it's a long internet session =P
